Where do you get your music LEGALLY from!?

Postby defjam01 on 24 Feb 2011, 20:11

Hi everybody,

there are serval sites that offer djs legally music or even videos before it is even published (for a special fee of course).

I want to know if you can name me some of those sites or services and if you are fulfilled with their service.

I know http://www.franchiserecordpool.com for example. The page is not very pretty but the content quite good.

Kind regards

Hey,

I only use DJ Tunes and Beatport. I don't know when they get the new music but I have mostly the music before I hear them on other platforms and so on.

The price is also ok for Music with 320kb/s Mp3 with Cover and also the right id3 tag v1 and v2 ;-).

regards
Christian

Same here defjam ;)

Beatport ftw :) I have bought at iTunes, TrackItDown.net, WhatPeoplePlay or Dancetunes. The prices and the quality vary i.e. you can get wavs at WhatPeoplePlay for the price of a mp3 at beatport but their backstock is not so huge.
And let me add: it is a matter of the genre too! There are shops which specify on a hand full of genres but there you can get the best tracks!

Cheers,

Steve

By default I usually goto Beatport because it's got the best layout and "work flow". In fact if the Cross collection window looked like a beatport page with the small thumbnail graphics it would really suit me.

The only problem with beatport (aside from ethical considerations) is that the clips are too short and there's no waveform overview. So I often end up looking at Juno, Trackitdown, djdownloads etc to preview tracks I'm not sure about or to get stuff not available on beatport.

I also heared about promoonly.com for audio and video. Also smashvidz.net. I think i will create a list for video-subscriptions and all this stuff vor Vfx in the beta section.

Two sources:

1. From my own vinyls (80's Electronic) digitized mp3s. One has to pay GEMA fees (in Germany) for them, when playing them to an audience.

2. Free Music under CCL (recent electronic dance music) not requiring any fees.

...so, I don't pay for data only, but for vinyls ;)

Hey, I get my music via Youtube. I use Youtube to MP3 converter, it is very efficient and easy to use.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I feel that this is...

1. one of the absolut ILLEGAL ways (BTW the most "unprofessional" one ) to get music
2. the best way to get the worst quality available
3. the most boring option to waste your time
