Now that I got that out of the way, I might as well answer questions nobody asked.

Anyway, I got into the idea of DJing because I recently started working the soundboard for my youth group team, and found it to be pretty fun, although I'm almost positive DJing will be harder and different, it still seems like a fun step to try.

I don't plan on making a career out of this, I'm doing it more for personal fun and the possibility of posting work on youtube/playing mixed songs in chapel, stuff like that.

Like I said, I really have no idea what I'm doing, or how I should actually go about this, I'm saving up so I can buy "How to DJ Right: The Art and Science of Playing Records" and "Djing for dummies."

However (and I almost feel sorry for asking in an introduction, but the good people of this site seem pretty nice. ^_^) I was wondering if there's any recommendation from those who are a lot more knowledgeable than I. Mostly related to gear that I would need to start. xD I am hoping that Turntable I linked was a good step for a beginner, but like I said, I'm still pretty noobish.

Well anyway, thanks for reading/advising/being here. For now I'll focus on listing to stuff on the forums/other places in the interwebz and trying to get some ideas/inspiration before I really dive into it.

yes welcome to mixvibes fourm good pick for a name i didnt have a choice so sombody else got it right for me start dee-jaying when i was lots younger, got to have music in your head heart the next step is to find out all the info you can not shure if still avaible but mixvibes offers demo /trail versions of their software. of course with limitations as do some of the other DJ software companies trail nd error will get you to a point of selection i reccomend Cross software,and with the proper setup can be a stand alone dee jaying platform no matter what your choices if you come back to the fourm with honest intentions of aspiring to dee jay the assistance should be there good luck nothing ventured/nothing gained

Hey Elijah,

The Discover DJ controller you posted is a great way to start off. There are quite a few features that it doesn't have, but it's a great building block. Just make sure that if you buy it, you buy an external soundcard as well so that you can cue your tracks and play 'em out.

As far as learning how to mix and such goes, YouTube has a plethora of helpful videos in that category.
