BPM Calculation software and general info

Postby World Wide Panik on 04 Jan 2010, 16:07

Well now I am getting a bit more time to work on mixing I have realized that my BPMs were way out of wack. For example Snap! "The Power" as per Mixvibes default setting came in at 78.xx BPM.

On this site (http://djbpmstudio.com/bpm-music-index.html) it comes in as 108.88 for Original Single. I went looking around for a free BPM calculator and this is the best I found at http://www.mixmeister.com/download_freestuff.html. It came up with 108.87 BPM. For me just getting on the scene with a serious vengeance now I think that xx.01 BPM is close enough for mixing.

Now getting back to Mixvibes I found that setting the AutoBPM range to 80 - 150 got the closest results. Sometimes on autoload you have to still auto analyse it again with a simple right click and select analyse automatically. Snap "The Power" on autoload BPM came up as 120 BPM and when I reanalyse it; it came up as 108.98.

Hopefully this saves everyone a bit of time trying to get that perfect mix down to the art it is.

Cheers!

I believe ableton Live is by far the best BPM finding tool !

Well thanks for some of the other programs. I'm taking Mixed In Key for a spin. I'm going to see if one of my saved sets are as bad as I think it is. Somethings don't sound right on certain transitions. The wheel on Mixed In Key site makes a ton of sense also.

As per Mixed In Key: WOA! Every single place I thought there was an issue there was by ATLEAST 2-4 musical keys.

High recommendation for this program.

Major kudos to you polocorp!
