[RELEASE] MIDI Utility for MV7

Postby phadedvision on 18 Nov 2009, 03:51

Hey Everybody, long time no post!

In an attempt to help make MIDI editing in MV7 a bit easier, I wrote a little program called "MIDI Utility for MixVibes".

midisnip.JPG

Features:
* Command separation according to control type (transport, mixer, etc.)
* Command description (to see what you're actually modifying)
* Command flag defaults (no need to adjust them)
* Comment functionality (easier to go back and see what you had everything mapped to)
* Multiline capability (when you're done, simply copy/paste the lines into a .txt document and rename to .ini)
* On/Off default values for respective controls

In the future:
* Import/Export .ini files
* Flag descriptions
* Reset function
* ... and more!

To use:
1. Open your version of MixVibes 7 and make sure the "Info" bar is enabled from "View"
2. Manipulate a control on your controller, then write the number (i.e. #b0 x xx) into the "Control" field of MIDI Utility.
3. Adjust the Command and/or Value fields as needed and comment if you'd like
4. Press "Generate!" and you'll see your new MIDI command in the textbox
5. Repeat until finished
6. Copy/Paste the new commands into a Notepad document, save it as whateveryouwantto.ini (make sure "All Files" is selected as the save type)
7. Drop the file into the "MIDI" folder within the MV folder, and you're done! (...assuming at this point you know how to set up MIDI within MV)

Questions and comments are welcome, feel free to send me a PM as well.

Phaded

works great but i have a few suggestions

1. instead of gentering code have the app write the code to the ini file specifed
2, have expliation of the values for each MIDI comand ie load value 1 should be 1 for mediabase value 2 is for player etc

let me know if you need a hand with it
not to shabby with code so more than happy to help

Mixvibes needs to be able to accept MIDI from more than one controller at a time. At the moment I have to use NidiYoke to combine 2 controllers into 1...
Pentium 4HT Laptop, 1Gb Ram, XP Pro, Mixvibes DVS, Ableton Live, UC-33e, Rolls MP80 Pedal, SP-202, DM2, DJM 600s, 2xTechnics 1200s, Vestax PMC 07 ProD, Motu Ultralite, U46DJ.

Cross has 8 MIDI inputs and Producer has 2. DVS, however...
