The thing is - I'd never help anyone out just for some kind of reward - so Karma is strange, it pays you back in ways you'd never expect. I was just helping an old friend who's been quite ill recently, and I'd always be happy to do that for free - all it costs is a little of my time, and a little bit of of sweat. There's quite a long story involved with me and my friend, but I'll cut it very short. About 27 years ago, a family member introduced me to a DJ, who offered to teach me all about the business. I started by being a 'roadie' but progressed to being the warmup guy, then onto my own gigs. This guy helped me buy my first ever set up, and helped me build the things I couldn't afford to buy (gear was incredibly expensive then!). Then we had a problem! I met a girl, and naturally I wanted to take her out to different places, so I couldn't always be available for DJ duties, and me and my friend parted company. I married the girl - had a disastrous marriage, and had lost a great friend... Move forward 27 years and we get together on Facebook, and it's like time has never passed. We talk and laugh about the things we did back then, and we did some mad stuff back then! I'm so glad I've got my friend back, and my only hope or reward that I really want, is for him to make a full recovery from his illness. I owe him everything.

Great gig tonight! This is my third party for this family, and they are so nice, so appreciative, and so much fun!
They always do something different and amusing, and tonight was the best... it was a 21st birthday party and the girl's Dad came out dressed in an inflatable Elvis Karate suit - it was hilarious!
The best part of the night was when I finished at 12.00. Everyone stood up and applauded, and a few people came to shake my hand. I live for nights like this, when people enjoy themselves so much.
No-one even noticed that one of my bass bins blew a fuse and stopped working halfway through the night - I hope that's nothing too serious!

Glad to hear Kevin! Hopefully it is just the fuse that is broken!

Wow! I've just done a little investigation into the speaker problem and was quite amazed at what I saw! Firstly, I checked the external fuse, all ok there, so out came the screwdriver... Took the amplifier out of the back and that's when I found something very strange! A wooden strengthening strut had come loose and had fallen onto the speaker wires, breaking the soldered joint of the negative wire! Also, on the amplifier board there were 2 blown internal fuses. I'm guessing that when the connection to the speaker broke, it blew the fuses to protect it's circuits. At least I hope so. Tomorrow it's soldering time, a visit to the electronics store, and me holding my breath as I turn the thing on!

I'm not sure about the sound quality, but I bet the taste was good! Funniest thing I've seen all day btw!
