Re: Recommendations on recording?

Might be that I am confused now, but can you please confirm if it is an issue with the output file of Cross (wav). Or that it is an issue with the converted MP3.

It would be a totally different problem to resolve, even if it would start in Cross encoder.

The other thing is to test it using the same hardware, so play from your laptop. Again using other devices introduce other potential causes (like decoders).

Audio dropouts? Increase audio 'buffer size' value.

Soundcard not available/working? Try the 32bit version of Cross (is also installed).

Yes, the problem exists in the originally recorded .wav/.flac file, regardless of the hardware I play it back on. Tried it on my laptop AND on my phone. Problem exists in both cases and remains when I transform it to mp3.

damn, forgot to post the screenshot. But I remember the original song having a gain of 1.7 and the recorded (same) song having a gain of 5.

Also the waveforms of the recording looked the same, except for the amplitude, which was obviously way smaller :o

Did you do the test with no input channels?

Yes, I set all of them to "none". Master gain was at ~60-70%

As recording is one of the basic features in MixVibes products and has not changed for a while it is totally unclear where it goes wrong for you, especially now you have it at your new laptop as well.

As you can check in the mixes forum many don't have problems. So we should be able to get you there as well.

As it seems settings are not causing it, we might have to shift to trying to duplicate your issue. If you could upload some of the original tracks somewhere, so others can try recording it.

I think we should be 100% sure that it is not caused by the settings first.

So which settings/knobs/buttons/otherstuff do have influence on the volume of the recording?
Should only be the following:
- Master gain (located at the top right in CrossDJ)
- The individual track gains (located in the mixer in CrossDJ)
- The analyzed gain, when the box "Reat track gain at load" is checked
- The crossfader (to some extend)
- The individual upfaders (located above the crossfader)
- The volume of the input mp3s

Did I forget anything?

Also, which settings do NOT have influence on the volume of the recording?
Should be the following (and many others of course :D ):
- Speaker level
- Output level of the soundcard
- Windows system volume

Right?

Yes; this is it. Windows sys vol could hook in via an input. So that's why I think getting to duplicate is the next step.

This would cause the cue to come out of the speakers and the master going to my phones...
