Usually a BSOD can be analyzed with a blue screen of death tool (e.g. from http://www.nirsoft.net) , which may point out which driver is causing it. I am pretty sure not even the beta test team nor Release Candidate testers ever reported a single, let alone repeating blue screen.

I suppose you did, but make sure you have the most recent updates of W8 installed, especially if you use 8.1.
After installing 8.1 you might need to reinstall soundcard specific software. When I upgrade MS replace some drivers by default MS.

And you might have to verify that no other similar software is running (as service or via program (auto) start up)

Worst case your PC caught a cold when searching for alternatives for Serato; so virus check would be an option.

There is however one thing you can try with Cross and that is renaming the mixvibes.settings file in user\app\roaming\mixvibes (or something like this). Basically it is a step back as you go back to default setting when startup next. If it does not have different behaviour, it like is system related. BTW you can reopen your collection without a problem after this.

Great that thats solved. For the samples, just to be sure all steps are done so it can be brought done:
(sorry if the steps seem to silly to mention)

1. Sample files were added to the collection (what tever way)
2. Sample tracks are marked as sample (batch select; right click 'Set as Samples'. This has no further use than organizing your collection. (music/video(if you have video plugin)/sample)

3. Analyze the sample tracks (if done, you might want to do Gain only)

4. Organize the samples in sample banks (a bank may contain more than 8 in the library, but max 8 active for the pads).

By now your samplebanks should play at a similar volume as the tracks.....

If not the case you can manual adjust the Gain af a track. In the collection view, or sample bank library view, you can right click on the field names and make 'gain' a visible field.

Change the volume here manual. You can do this with Preview on easiest (carefull for loudness at first).

This should do the job in most situations. After this lowering volume is at hand in each individual samplepad. General Gain in the mixer...

Hope this either helps solving or at least brings down to the root cause (see also remark of daniel which crossed my typing)

so i have gone through the manual. I looked at the cue point section? I beat juggle in my mixes. Does Cross not save your cue points? And when you use them from player to player, do the transfer over? Example....I mapped 1-5 for player a and 6-0 for player b. If I set the locator points in A and move the track to player b, they don't follow?

Also...I figured out the routing section. There is not way to drag and drop connection in that area....the view I like the most is in Simple stereo mode where I can see all the gains and match up my volumes better. The external mixer gives me dials for filtering sound? Can this be manually adjusted?

locators are saved in library. 2nd deck when copied is loaded with library info. as you might want different locators when using same track in 2 decks. last one used is saved.

add on would using deck c/d with hotsampling.

audio routing has nothing to do with layout in vision. it represents the physical routing of your soundcard (s). it is must to set this up right for internal or external mixer. when using preview via jeadphone simple stereo is not right. you minimum would need dual for this.
