Recommendations on recording?

correct ,, looking at all of your settings ,seems correct ,, with thease settings
where are the track led at and where is the master out leds at , and the recording sound where is it at during play back
this level set up is exactly at the settings i use and experience none of the low level recordings and no clipping at the sound system out put ,,
what output source are you using and what input source on you sound system is it plugged into ,,

The LEDs I marked in the other post are almost always at their peak (not when I use filters or turn the gain knobs). The master LED usually is yellow and very rarely peaks into red.

Does this really matter? I mean the software records internally, so the output does not have any impact on it, does it?

Again, to make this clear: The auto-gain feature does NOT change the orientation of the gain knobs. Right or wrong?

Do the tracks sound OK when listed live (the non recorded version)

correct it adjust the level of the song ie the gain field in the columes ,, take a track and load it in the software with out anylising the gain ,, see the level in the gain mentioned and then anylise it for aoto level/gain ,, the adjustment made by the software is the resulting auto level ,, found this to be close and some discrepiencys due to track s not having levels the same in them ie soft sound periods , later louder /higher levels ,, aoto volume cant compensate for this and you wouldnot want it to,

try to determine where the distortion clipping is coming from ,, seems to be the worst of the problem

Yes, when playing live everything sounds fine. Crystal clear sound, no clipping. Again, when I listen to the recording it is too silent or has distortions (depending on master gain).

Maybe you're having an input kicking in at a certain volume/frequency, creating acoustic feedback somehow.

Try setting all inputs to None.

if so work back to the source.

just curious ,, the orignal track you say recorded,,what was the anylised gain level in the track ,, (the adjusted gain by anyalis) compare it to the anylised gain of the recording ,,,, think this the senerio you are seeing ,, try it ,, set you master out to a good sounding level ,, your track fader gains to the level ,, record a track taking note of the gain level set by anylise ,, ,, now the recorded track ,when you anylise the recorded track to play in Cross what did the gain get adjusted to ,,
any of your recordings ,,how do the sound in another player ,, are the levels adaquate ,, a bunch of my samples are mp3 recorded in Cross/home 7 ,,(now a wave file) used a wave editor to edit the recordings for final ,, use that wav file for the samples ,,adjusted my gain levels of the file manualy for the best volume as a sample
if you find the levels of the recording at neg ,, adjust the level to 0 and see how it sounds

So you mean I should record a single track and compare the auto-gain level with the original Mp3? Sounds like a good idea, I will do this, when I get home!

I usually transform the .wavs into mp3s and listen to them on my smartphone using high-end headphones. The problem remains after the transformation.

I use Audacity to analyze the .wav/.flac and to export it to mp3. Normalizing to 0db does not change anything. I will post a screenshot of my latest mix's waveforms, when I get home. The clipping is visible, although I recorded at ~60% master gain
