I am working with a xone 23c in DVS mode, I have rewired it internally. I am aware that I lose the ability to have fx return and master return with rewiring. The computer does not have direct access to the FX send and master out anymore. However, I have also noticed that I can no longer preview songs! This is very trouble some for me, I shouldn't have to load the track to preview it! It takes far too long. Did I lose this feature because of the rewiring or am I missing something? Any help is appreciated, I also know the head phone out works, because I am still able to cue, just not preview.

Thank you for your response! You have helped me more than once, appreciate you being active on this forum. Anyways... I am using the external mixer cue for audio routing. None of the other routing modes seem to make sense; with any other routing mode I get decks A and B on the same channel. What seems odd to me is that if I switch "Output1/Output2" from Output1 to Output3 I can hear the preview. This however sends the preview to the master out in addition to not letting me play from Deck A in the computer. Here's a screen shot http://imgur.com/YEft160 When I revert "Output1/Output2" to Output 1, everything functions as normal with the exception of the preview feature.

I Looked @ your screenshot.
External Mixer Cue is right
But
Input 1/2 Output Must be 1/2
Input 3/4 Output must be 3/4
Than go to Tab Vinyl/Cd Choose COntrol Media CD or Vinyl select Phono or Line Press Play on your Players and click on Calibrate

The issue is not getting DVS to work, it works just fine when I have the settings you described. External mixer cue, and output 1 : output1/2, and output2: output3/4. The problem I have is that I am no longer able to preview tracks in the browser window. I have no problem cueing tracks but I want to be able to preview a track before loading it in a deck. I posted the screen shot because with those audio routing settings, I am able to hear preview, however it also puts decks A and B on the same channel on the mixer, which doesn't do me much justice. And I don't want to have to change my audio settings, just to preview a track.

In external mixer mode you would need a mixer with three channels and an audio interface with three stereo outputs, as the audio of the preview player is sent to the Cue output, which is routed to the outputs configured as Output 3 (Preferences/Audio dialog). So I guess that means it is not possible for me to use the preview feature with my xone23c in DVS mode. I would need a third output, with the xone 23c (DVS) I have 2 stereo channels into the computer and 2 stereo channels out. This explains why I am able to hear the preview if I reroute the audio. If I got a xone k2, I should be able to use preview since it would give me another channel, theoretically. If someone can correct me on using multiple sound card sources that'd be great.

I am running on mac. So what you are saying is that I should be able to route the 'preview' sound in the audio MIDI utility to come out of my xone 23c?
From what I understand the second option you mention would be using the xone 23c sound card AND the internal sound card on my laptop. That would mean 'previewing' a track would be as simple as plugging into my laptop headphone jack, given that I make the changes in the audio MIDI utility.
