Hey mates, hope everything is okay I have been searching the forums about the functionality of different MIDI controllers. There is a thread where you can say what controller you are using and what functions you control with it. Unfortunately there is no answer that fits what I am looking for. I am searching for a MIDI controller that allows me to control these options in mixvibes: 1.) working on the mediabase i.e. searching a track in groups, scrolling tracks and groups, loading a track to a deck,...(I know about track selection with the timecode vinyls, but if a controller can do so - why not? ) 2.) controlling mixvibes effects because bigibangs reso filter rocks and controlling it with my mouse sucks :P 3.) working on the sampler i.e. editing samples (start, stop, pitch -> !!!most important!!!) Is there a controller that allows me to combine all these controls? I thought of different but I am not sure if they fit. What do you think? Any recommendations? If you recommend the M-Audio Trigger Finger or the AKAI controllers with the samples pads can I use the potentiometers to control the other features and are there enough potentiometers? Thanks a lot for your time! Greetings, Steve

Hey Blackbrook
I use a evolution uc33 for effects and media base tasks this gives me up to 4 effects per side with 3 rotary pods for the parameters and slider for the wet dry also has 15 buttons that i have set to scroll up down the media base and load deck A+B the controller also has 16 banks of controls 4 of these are quickly accessible via bank preset buttons this means you can have up to 16 layers of controls mapped ie bank 1 effects bank 2 sampler functions (although doesn't have touch sensitive buttons you can still launch samples)
Hope this helps if you need any more info let me know
Im also looking at getting the new Novation Launch Pad for ableton but i think this will also work well with the MV sampler

Hey Steve, If you're going to go for a pad controller, I recommend the MPD24 (Akai). As cool as the PadKONTROL and Trigger Finger are, they're lacking in faders. The Akai's got 6 faders, 8 rotaries, and 16 pads/4 banks. I use a combination of that and a hacked apart Oxygen 8, which has pitch/mod wheels, 8 knobs, 25 keys. Well... Not quite 25 keys anymore! oxy8.jpg I use it in conjunction with Ableton for Moldover-esque controllerism, but it's pretty damn handy for scrolling through the mediabase! The way I do it is by setting a knob to control scrolling, so instead of having to mash down a button everytime, I can locate stuff a hell of a lot faster. That's my two cents, hope it helps!

Yo mates, I'm new around those things ... are you guys using those more as a live tool or as a production tool ? or both ? I'm considering buying one of those, but since I'm a n00b, i don't want to sell a kidney that early The PCR 300 seems quite multitaskable and is only 200€ .. HMmmm Cheers ++KP

Thanks a lot mates!
I first thought of the M-AUdio UC-33e, the trigger finger or the M-Audio keyboard. But wazzas tipp looks pretty brilliant :P A lot of MIDI assignable knobs and faders and very cheap!
Thanks a lot for the input mates!!!

Steve
