This is like the 3rd so called 'publicity' stunt that i can remember from Panasonic, probably to boost sales of a product that shows declining sales in a resection-style global market...
they have enough money already!

If they do in fact discontinue the 12xx series, I won't be too worried. They literally last for decades, so if you've got a pair, you've got nothing to worry about. That's my take on the situation :P
