Cross future features ? DVS deprecated ?

Postby heldri on 27 Aug 2009, 06:49

Hi,

I'm trying to figure out, wish version is better for me, Cross or DVS Producer.

After reading the following thread viewtopic.php?f=268&t=14209&start=0&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=Cross+future , I noticed some claims that Cross, in a near future will include features that you find in DVS version.

Since Cross has a "new engine", I would like to understand if DVS is going deprecated and Cross is going to substitute it ? I mean, is Cross going to be kept simple and basic, or we'll have Cross, with Sampler features, such as DVS Pro ? What's the future ?

* I Only saw videos of DVS Producer by now and had some experience with one deck, in Cross Demo. In terms of sound is really good, nice for scratching (in a U46SE, tough), I can't say the same for Deckadance or VDJ.

* I'm thinking about buying Cross, but if Cross is not going "Producer way", and if DVS Producer is not going to be deprecated, I supose, I'll prefer it.

* I dont want to make the wrong decision, but Cross is sounding really good, I'm ready to buy it, but the problem, is that I saw the promo for Mixvibes Producer and I'm confused right now.

Thanks for your time!

Hi there!
I understand your problem and i'll try to help you! First of all I suppose you want only one thing, but why don't get the two products?!
Personally I like DVS pro more then Cross because of its components and reliability that offers you and its great even with its u46 soundcard and you can have great scratch/mixing experience with it. From the other hand Cross is awesome in its engine point of view, its responsiveness and simplicity. I would go with this!!! If you are scratch DJ which want to stick to u46 soundcard and want to make scratches with some efx sampling then go for DVS!!!! But if you want to mix only and you don't need any big toys to play with then go for Cross!!!
I use them both and i tell ya they are awesome, but DVS is my love and ill always stick to it more!!!!!!!!

Cheers

ssup people,

heldri, I had the very same concerns as you, as you can see on my very first post on this forum.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with Cross in September, betting that the MixVibes team will put all its experience acquired with the DVS/DVS Pro versions in Cross. I'm pretty sure that's what they are already working on now. Sure I'd enjoy the sampler and effects but I'm confident it will come on time.

@NB, I'm confused by your post. I'm a scratch DJ who is not looking for bells and whistle but reliability. what would be your recommendation then?
Of course I'd go with the 2 products if there was an upgrade path available between the 2 but it is not the case right now.

cheers

Hi,
thanks for your sugestions guys!

John Wo_O, I supose the best option is Cross, for me. I've been thinking about it and it's the most reliable DVS I came so far. It's simple, no extra stuff, etc. I wish this was a VSTi, so I could use it with Ableton Live, or any other platform.

About licenses, in thomann.de you can buy it for 119 Euros, in case you're buying other stuff too, it's ok, because of shipment. If it's just it, It's better buy it trough the Mixvibes.com EShop.

One thing that I've noticed is the Student version, how to change from Student to Standard version ? I dont found any info about it.

Tks
