Caballoballo wrote:Saludos, my question is regarding the waveform with beatgrid and the full track display . As I load a song on decks A/B there is marker like a flag pole at the beginning of the track which I can move and set my cue. How are those 2 waveforms related with the beginning of the song? Does the top waveform flag pole indicates how far is the song from start? Thanks
i am not sitting in front of my computer so I'll try to explain without pictures.
The deck waveform (bigger one) and the track waveform have comomn elements and all common element means the same. it just two different way to represent the waveform for your perspective.
For both
The white marker at the begining is your cue and as you mentioned you canchange this to whichever position you want.
Subsequent markers that display a number are your "Locator" (normally call hot cues in other DJ software). You can also chage their position and recall them at anytime.
Both type of markers are represented in the exact position in both waveforms.
The deck waveform (the bigger one) is a zoomed in version and it is useful when looking at very samll specific segments of your track. The waveform scrolls while the head position (playing point) is a stationary verrtical bar in the center. (Note: there is an alternate view of this waveform if you want the waveform to remain stationary.
The track waveform (the samller one) remains stationary while the playing point moves acrros). This waveform is intended to give you an overall track representation with the markers showing their position in relation to the rest of the track. it is useful to identify the progression of the track and breaks or quiet passages in the song. You can scroll to the general location and then get a detailed view by using the deck waveform for the exact point that you are looking for.
For example and in layman's terms. if you set locator #3 the flag will be set in both waveforms but it may not be visible in the deck waveform depending on the playback position. Same with the initial cue point. The Cue point and locators (hot cues) will always be visible on the track waveform.
