I would add that it also depends on the venue.
If the bachelor party is going to be held in his or someone else's how (in other words a house party), then perhaps (I understand is the U-Mix Control Pro) you could ask the owner to hook up to his home Stereo system. You can use RCA outputs as long that you are set up no more than 10 feed away from the input to the Stereo.
For your 1st public gig if it is in a house, that would be sufficient.
If the venue is more than a house party then you need more power than just your laptop. Depending on the size and as stated by others the amount of people the variations for the power needed are numerous.
Still for a small set up and depending on your budget would invest on a pair of monitors speakers.
When I have a big event i use my full set up with Bose L1 and my DDJ-SX and the works.
When I have a small house party I use my laptop U-Mix Crontrol pro 2 and a pair of Rokit 8 G3 speakers.
if I am traveling, you never know when a party may break out. I use iPad or laptop, U-Mix Control Pro 2 and the Rokit speakers. it all fits in a medium size bag.
By the way the Rockit RP8 G3 are a 100RMS watts self powered by ampped speakers and for a small enclosure they are loud. Each goes normally for $250.00 US.
