Hey there,
I am mixing on a desktop PC right now and think about buying a laptop to be mobile. I heard that Lenovo is a good brand for cheap-mid-range laptops, so I searched the internet and found these two:
Lenovo IdeaPad G505s: AMD A8-4500M (1,9 - 2,8Ghz) 8 GB RAM AMD Radeon HD8570M DDR3 2G
and
Lenovo G500S Intel Core i5-3230M (2,6 - 3,2Ghz) 4GB RAM HD Graphics 4000
So obviously it is RAM vs. CPU. Which one would fit my needs better (or are both of them not suited)? I plan on using them only for DJing, so it does not matter wether they can run CoD or not.

I guess buy - best CPU possible as this is hard to upgrade in coming 3-5 years. = option to expanding mem to 16gig once needed. - For vid dedicated mem is strongly recommended )maybe even required).
Alright so you would go with the first one and simply upgrade the RAM, once I need more? I do not plan on doing video

I have not checked with product specs for expansion options. I think you mean that I recommend the second... http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.phpshow a rating of 2900 for the AMD and 3900 for the i5. How sure are you about not using vid for the upcoming years...

out of the two it would go for that one, I have an i5 of similar spec although 6GB and I don't have any issues I can run two decks and all sample slots, probably all with full tracks in them also judging from a test I did a while back, you can always update your ram, so best with the i5.
also I used my girlfriends Toshiba satellite i3 with 4GB ram and again I had no problems on the whole I never really reached any limit so I had to worry.

I bought this laptop now:
Lenovo G500S Intel Core i5-3230M (2,6 - 3,2Ghz) 4GB RAM HD Graphics 4000
It is pretty great:
Pros: + Perfect size (slim, yet big enough to see everything) + Looks good + Did not come with an OS (I can get win8 from my university for free, so I saved 100 bucks) + Runs CrossDJ without any problems (Loaded two tracks, 8 samples and various effects without a problem) + Often in stock on Amazon Warehouse Deals
Cons: - None so far
If anybody is searching for a decent laptop to use CrossDJ for about $400/350€, definetely get this one.
Some tags, so that people who have the same question can find this post: CPU, RAM, laptop, notebook, processor, intel, amd, lenove, acer, asus, macbook, crossdj, fast, hardware, screen, display, which, budget, new, PC, desktop, windows
