Anyone using the Pioneer DDJ-SX with CrossDJ ?

Postby B16MCC on 11 Sep 2013, 20:12

Hi guys, I'm researching this controller from Pioneer and really like the look of it. Having said that, I hate Serato DJ. It's not in the same league as Cross DJ, not by a long shot.

Can anyone give me any first hand feedback on the performance of the DDJ-SX with Cross DJ please ?

Are their any features in Serato that are not available or mapped in Cross DJ ?

Thanks
Martin.

Hi,

The DDJ-SX is fully functional for Cross DJ but of course a few features differ (as both apps are different).

The main differences:
- Slice Mode: doesn't exist as is in Cross. It has been remapped to automatically create a "Hot Slicing Bank" in the sampler.
- We don't have full access to jog center illuminations and some cases will then be different from SDJ.
- FXs, of course you control Cross FXs, these are different.

That's all I have in mind.

Hi Martin, I purchased Cross recently after buying the SX as I dont like Serato either and just wanted to try something different instead of traktor. So far Im really happy it! the default mapping is super tight and the 'Hot Slicing Bank' is mega fun too (even better than seratos slicer mode IMO) I really like the look of Serato but besides that its way better using the SX with Cross!!

Ahh that's great to hear. I think it's sold to be honest, I have my mates second registration of Traktor so I do have that option too.
The SX looks really impressive , I'm gonna get into Manchester at some point and check it out at our local DJ shop.
I'm almost sure it's my next purchase .

Thanks for the feedback so far guys. Obviously anymore input or opinions are welcome.

Nice one! Its definitely a solid unit, I spent a couple of weeks trying to decide between either the SX or the Vestax 400 but I dont live near any shops to try em out so I just had to take a gamble and order one online, def dont regret my decision at all especially since 99% or clubs in australia have Pioneer gear so it always feels right at home when playing out!
