Help! CrossDJ not recognising my ion icue controller

I've tried mapping my ion icue DJ controller in CrossDJ v2.2.0 manually (it is not on the list of 60 pre-loaded controllers) via the MIDI page but the software does not recognise any movements from the controller so nothing can be assigned.

I only bought this software so I could make some Christmas mixes with digital tunes and it advertised that any controller could be mapped. I am only looking to assign basic controls and would have expected to do this with ease. It's frustrating that such a simple task is proving so problematic.

I downloaded Virtual DJ FREE to test the controller. It was recognised on startup of the software and I was able to use immediately with no manual assigning needed. I would have expected the same from CrossDJ but sadly this isn't the case.

Any help in the near future would be greatly appreciated.

welcome and sorry to hear that. I need a few more info so:
1. could you please give us info like working on Mac or Windows and which version of the OS
2. is the controller recognised at CrossDJ under the MIDI Tab? I mean is there a entry which shows that the ion is recognised from CrossDj.
3. If it is visible at CrossDJ when you press a button will light up the name of the controller under preferences?

The Numark Total Control should land you into the ball park too. They certainly share the same MIDI commands.

But, it's only for 10 mins at a time. You have to close and restart the software

1. PC. Vista Home professional 64bit

2. No. I'm getting no signal of any kind in CrossDJ for the ion. I tried 'Add controller mappings' in Preferences>MIDI and then manually assigning but CrossDJ would not pick up any movement from crossfader or any other pots on the ion.

3. Not possible - see "2"

Really would appreciate some help. I've been DJ'ing for nearly 20 years and write courses/tutor Digital DJ'ing/Music production so I'm usually pretty good with MIDI etc. Just not sure what else to try with this one though.

Thanks for the suggestion. I just tried Preferences>MIDI and then selected Numark Total Control but still no action when move crossfader/pots on the ion

Hi there, unfortunately your Ion iCue Controller is not a MIDI compliant device. It can't work in Cross.

Sorry for that, but it was advertised "any MIDI controller" can be mapped...

It works in VDJ cause they had a deal to develop dedicated native code for this.

Yep, it ships with Numark Cue LE, which is in reality a rebranded VDJ LE product.
