Simple question - which do you use to mix with, and why?
MacBook Pro - 15" (Mid 2014) 2.2Ghz Processor 16GB RAM
U-Mix Control Pro 2 Cross 3.3.10

Depends on situation. I prefer using the chanes faders more, but sometimes I'm using the crossfade, If I'm playing on university gigs, when just dropping tunes.
I also try to keep in mind the lifetime of the faders, that Is why I tend to use my Xfader more.

started mixing when there were no Cross fader on mixers,,not much avaible than sliders/volume controls, like studio mixers,,Cross faders were designed for easy of operation and use of one hand control ,which allowed for using the other hand to control the turntable for on spot cueing,,use both dependent on the requirments of the mix,,probley can say that music and dee jaying would not have gotten to where it is with out the crossfader allowing for different styles to emerge one other great implemtation was the use of slip pads

Always the upfaders for me, always feel I've got more control with them. I turn crossfaders off where I can, I don't trust myself not to knock them!

Cheers for the reply.
I ask because I use the crossfader and I don't do any scratches. When I first started I just started using it as I thought it was the done thing. Clearly not! But I find my mixes are clunky and too sudden with the upfaders.

Just use whatever feels comfortable for you mate. Everyone does it in their own way. Long ago, i used to use the xfader for 'blending' , but for me now, its sorta annoying to change the xfader curve all the time back and forth, so i use the volume sliders for blending. Cheers
