We all get to a point where it is no question of talent but a question of money, reputation or relations. Currently I got to this point and I can say that it is the saddest time since ages! 12 years ago I started djing with the intention to share a sound that makes people happy. Finally I realized that this is not the intention people expect and at this point it is time to pull the ripcord.
This is a very interesting question you are asking, i can already tell you that there is no perfect answer, but i'll try and answer the best i can.
Here are a list of important points that would make a DJ more talented than another: - His music and track selection - His communicating skills, is the DJ a good communicator, does he put a lot of energy behind the decks, what makes him different? - Working for and with the fans, does the DJ value his community, does he communicate to his fans and furthermore do the fans enjoy getting feedback from him?
gentlemen, why do you always just talk about male djs? his talent.. his skills.. his blah blah.. respect the other sex cuz there are a LOT of great female djs out there behind the decks!
the side issue of male/female is mute music and the expression of it is gender less the question that is more important is talent the god given, natural abilities of a indivual, if not used ,practiced, then it goes to waste. a different person with out thoes same abilitiies might strive to over come that lack and be precieved to have talent by the way he ,she applies themselves i have stated that music and making of the music come from the heart, you have to feel it in your being, how you apply it is you key to success, and being percieved as talented music is universal and how you precieve it and the efforts you use to express what you feel in your heart will get you to being talented just my thoughts and slight opinions

Agree on what you said Daniel, Music should really come from heart, if it comes from the heart it will go to the ears of the clubbers and they will love it
