Low Level Filter?

Postby Jim B on 29 Mar 2011, 20:49

I'm just about to buy a good Ground Loop Isolator. In the spec, it reads it has a low level filter aswell

Can someone explain what this is please, as I don't know

My guess is that it filters out some of the electronic noise? (Not the music, ha!)

Hey,

I have also a filter system and Ground-noise destroyer too ;) and there is the low level filter the 20Hz Low filter. This is very helpful for saving your loudspeakers^^. 20Hz is subsonic noise and can destroy your speakers (bass loudspeakers).

regards
Christian

Although Christian already explained it well let me add some words:

Music uses a frequency bandwidth. This can range i.e. from 1 Hz to 48kHz. You can devide this bandwidth from 1 to 48.000Hz into three different parts and you get a low level, mid level und high level bandwidth (comparable to your eq at the build in mixer). So with your low level filter you can filter a part of the frequency bandwidth and if it says 20Hz it means that it filters everything under 20Hz.

Steve
